Frequently Asked Questions

How do you see the relationship between cardiovascular training and chiropractic care in enhancing overall health?

Both cardiovascular training and chiropractic care should be utilized on an ongoing basis to enhance overall health and wellbeing. Regular commitment to chiropractic care and cardiovascular training will yield the best results for you.

Do you believe there are specific cardiovascular exercises that align better with chiropractic principles, especially for patients with back issues?

The best cardiovascular exercises for patients with back issues are the exercises they can tolerate and hopefully enjoy. Some people do well with swimming. Others enjoy jogging. Some people enjoy Tabata workouts. As long as you’re exercising and able to tolerate the exercise.

How would you advise someone with limited time to prioritize cardio and weightlifting without compromising muscle recovery or joint health?

If you have limited time and need a great one-hour workout, try doing weightlifting for 40 minutes followed by 20 minutes of cardio. This combination will help build muscle and burn fat while using a limited amount of time.

When To Do Cardio

Hello everybody. This is Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place. Today's video is about when to do cardio.

Now cardio training is very important, right? We know all the benefits of doing cardio, reducing our risk of cardiovascular-related diseases. It does help us burn calories. So there's a number of benefits to doing our cardiovascular training, but I like to have people do kind of a combination of weightlifting and cardio and the idea is when do we want to be doing that cardio to get the maximum benefit of our entire workout? So if you are doing some weight training and you incorporate cardio into your routine, what I would recommend doing is starting with doing your weight training first.

Now what that does is it allows the stored sugars in the muscle called glycogen to be used for your weightlifting to maximize your performance. And then after your workout, after you've done the weights is a really good time to be doing your cardio because you've burned up all that stored energy. You're more likely to be burning fat, body fat, as you train and do that cardiovascular routine.

So that'll help you lose weight if that's your goal or also just kind of keep you fit. Now ideally you would do your weights and your cardio at completely separate times during the day. That's if you live in this ideal world where you have all this time and you can just magically work out and then work out later.

Most of us don't have that time. I don't have the ability to do that. So I myself do my cardio training after I do my weight training.

But if you have the ability to do that, that is the best way to maximize the benefit of both the weightlifting and the cardio. But if you have to do them together because you only have one time of day that you can get to the gym like the rest of us, doing that cardio after you've done your weight routine is ideal. So the benefits of cardio, we know we get better stamina, right? You'll actually be able to lift better because your body can recuperate better from the cardiovascular training.

And the huge big thing here, the decreased risks of all cardiovascular-related illnesses when we are doing cardiovascular training cannot be understated. Cardiovascular disease still being the number one killer of everyone in the United States. So it's important if we incorporate this kind of cardiovascular training that we are getting that huge benefit of reducing our overall risks with cardiovascular problems.
