Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment restores proper motion in the spine and releases pressure on the adjacent nerves, allowing your body to function at a higher level.

Is chiropractic good for your body?

Regular chiropractic care is good for your body.

How long do chiropractic adjustments work?

Chiropractic adjustments can have effects that last for days to weeks after. It is important to follow your recommended care plan in order to get the maximum benefit.

How Chiropractic Works

Many patients come in and get care, and we still have questions about how this works.

I feel these differences in my body.

I can see the difference.

How is this working?"

I clarify what is happening with people.

One of the misconceptions in the public is that there are bones that are out of place, and we put them back in, and after you get that adjustment and now that the bone is back in, I need to be careful so it doesn't go out of place again.

That's not what happens.

When you take an X-ray of somebody before an adjustment and an X-ray of somebody after their adjustment, their X-rays will likely be the same.

What happens when chiropractors adjust is we are restoring motion to a joint that is fixated.

It cannot move as much as it needs to, so we restore that motion and allow it to move better.

Takes Pressure Off

We do this because it takes pressure off the nerves in the area, allowing the brain and the body to communicate much more effectively.

The other thing that happens at the joint level is that you have less pain and an improved range of motion, and people tend to feel more energy.

We've even heard in patients in the first week of care that they're sleeping better.

There are several other side benefits to chiropractic care, which is amazing, but one thing is to try not to think that a bone is out of place and I'm putting it back into place.

That's not what it is.

The joints are either moving or not moving.

When we make a chiropractic adjustment and find joints that are not moving correctly at their full potential, we restore motion to that joint and get it moving correctly again so that your body can begin to benefit from the nerves flowing properly, more range of motion, and all of these other things.

If you've not been under care in a while or your whole life, you've never had an adjustment.

When we start chiropractic care with patients, one visit doesn't magically correct years and years of neglect of these things.

Course Of Care

We typically follow a course of care with our patients and make chiropractic adjustments.

A series of visits to restore proper motion will allow everything to heal and function at its best.

That can take time.

Still, suppose you're doing your chiropractic care with stretches or home exercise, whatever we recommend.

In that case, you'll see a much better, improved quality of life with chiropractic care.
