Utilizing Chiropractic Care
Hello everybody.
This is Dr. Aaron Seaton.
Today's video is about chiropractic and how to utilize the best results.
So, how do chiropractors use chiropractic?
I'm a chiropractor, and I've been one for 17 years.
How does Dr. Aaron utilize chiropractic care?
When I was young, I didn't utilize it as I should.
As I got older, around the age of 19, I had my back, and I started going to a chiropractor consistently.
That's what woke me up to the potential of chiropractic.
My back felt better, and I was functioning better in many other areas of my life and health.
I felt more productive.
I felt I had more energy.
I felt like I was sleeping better.
I even felt like I was in a better mood.
And when you utilize chiropractic care the way it's intended to be utilized, it can help as a health and wellness maximization tool.
It can help you function better across many areas.
And how does that happen?
Well, your spine protects your nervous system.
Your nervous system governs everything your body does.
All of your movement, your sleep-wake cycles, your digestion, your immune system, all of these things are regulated out of your nervous system.
So when chiropractors make corrections to your spine, they're not just making your spine, neck, or lower back feel better.
They're making your body function better.
And that's a pretty cool thing that makes chiropractic care unique.
Healing Techniques
We're not utilizing drugs or surgery; we're using our healing techniques and chiropractic adjustments to help your body function better.
That's pretty cool, right?
Healing also takes time, and that's something I like to talk to my patients about.
Correcting your spine properly may take some time if they're new to chiropractic or have never utilized it consistently. We have to get it moving again and stabilize it, which doesn't happen in one visit.
Just like if I went to the physical therapist, say, I was having a shoulder problem.
The physical therapist isn't going to see me one time.
They're usually going to set a course of care.
And that's true in chiropractic as well; we have to give your body time to respond to the care we provide and hopefully get it stable and doing better, and then we can see you less often after that.
The best results for my patients are those who stick to the care plan and do their home exercises or what's required outside the office.
It's really hard to get the results you want if you're only getting adjusted by your chiropractor, but say, you're not making the exercise changes that I've asked you to make, or the dietary changes, or maybe it's even just you need to drink more water.
Those who take the home instructions and do them, combined with their chiropractic care, always get the best results.
Ongoing care is something where patients are stable and doing better.
I always make sure I make this recommendation: you should get your spine checked regularly by your chiropractor to prevent long-term spinal wear and tear to maximize your body's function and keep your nerve system functioning at its best, right?
Keep Doing It
If you want to benefit from exercise, you must keep doing it.
If you want to benefit from a healthy diet, you have to keep eating that way.
There's no start and stop with that stuff.
The same is true with chiropractic care.
Once we get you stable and your body is at a good point, you want to continue on with your care to some degree so we don't start slipping backward.
