Frequently Asked Questions
Should you visit a chiropractor before a long flight/travel?
You should visit your chiropractor before a long flight or traveling. Seeing your chiropractor before a trip will help make sure your spine is moving at its best.
Can a chiropractor help with fight or flight?
Chiropractic adjustments can help restore normal nerve function. This can help calm the nervous system and reduce the fight-or-flight response.
What should you avoid after a chiropractic adjustment?
You should avoid a lot of repetitive bending and lifting after your chiropractic adjustment. Walking will help restore normal motion to the spine after a chiropractic adjustment and help the adjustment last longer.
How do I prepare my body for a long flight/travel?
Stretching, exercise, and chiropractic care are important tools to help your body prepare for a long flight. It is also important to get up regularly and move around during a long flight. After the long flight, try stretching and taking a long walk to help restore proper motion to your body.
Today's video is about chiropractic care and traveling.
It's going to be summer here really shortly.
Many people are going to be taking family vacations, going to be moving about the country.
Pain-free Travelling Tips
So this is something that I get asked by my patients all the time, and I tell them, I think it's important, we need to stretch when we're sitting on airplanes or sleeping in different beds at hotels or family's houses, we need to be stretching to keep things moving.
We also need to get up and move.
We need to be taking walks.
If you're traveling or driving, you can pull over at rest areas, get up and move around for five to 10 minutes at a time.
That little movement every few hours can help.
Hydrating is also very important.
Stay hydrated to keep the muscles and soft tissues loose, and the big thing that I always recommend is that if you have a big trip coming up, I like to get adjusted before I travel, and I certainly like to get adjusted whenever I come back from a trip.
So I recommend that to my patients as well when you're going on a trip, get into the chiropractor before and then get into the chiropractor as soon as you get back so we can take care of anything that's gone out of alignment that could possibly cause a flare-up in the future.
That is my advice for when you're traveling.
