Neck Pain and What To Do About It
Frequently Asked Questions
As technology becomes increasingly integral to daily life, are there any tools or apps you recommend to help monitor posture or track screen usage for better neck health?
Most devices have screen usage tracking. I recommend setting an alarm for 1 hour. After an hour it is time to get up and move around.
For those unable to reduce screen time due to work demands, what practical daily exercises or stretches would you suggest to help prevent neck pain?
Regular exercise and neck stretches are important to prevent neck pain, especially if you are unable to reduce screen time due to work demands. Don't overthink it starting out. Just get regular exercise for 30 minutes a day and spend about 5 minutes doing neck stretches.
Could you explain how chiropractic care works to restore proper motion and balance in the neck joints?
A chiropractic adjustment opens up the joints in the neck while reducing adhesions in the soft tissue and removing scar tissue. Many people report immediate decreases in pain and improvements in neck range of motion after having their neck adjusted by a chiropractor.
Neck Pain and What To Do About It
Hello everyone. This is Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place. Today's video is about neck pain and what to do about it.
Now there's a lot of patients that are coming in these days that have neck pain and the two most common things that I'm seeing is that it's somebody with a desk job. They have, they're at a computer at their desk a lot. And then people who are using their phone or devices all the time.
And so these can really influence causing neck pain. Both of these things cause us to kind of look forward or be in weird positions and postures with our neck. That's not ideal.
And that can cause pain and inflammation in the neck and in the joints of our neck over time. And so there's obvious answers to this, which is try to limit usage of devices if you can. But when it comes to having a job where you're at a desk, there are some things that we can do because you have to be there for work, right? So getting up, taking breaks, moving around outside of work hours, making sure that you're getting plenty of exercise and moving your joints so that when you're at work, it's less of a problem.
Another option for if you're at a desk job, a lot of the time is can you have a sit stand desk? Because that can solve a lot of this. Just having the ability to push a button on your desk and raise it up and be able to stand. You can be working and you can be kind of moving around as you do that, which will help take some pressure off the neck and decrease that level of neck pain.
So these are some good solutions for the desk job issue. Flat out with phones and devices. We just have to learn to limit our use or break up usage time so that we take breaks and move around.
Any of these though are very, very responsive to chiropractic care. People who are dealing with neck pain, whether it's desk job, whether it's from phone use, it could be a number of different reasons, but those people tend to respond very, very well to chiropractic care because chiropractic care restores proper motion and balance into those joints in your neck. And you combine that with some modifications and alterations to lifestyle or changes to, you know, maybe bringing in a sit stand desk or taking adequate breaks in between when you're working.
These are things that when combined with chiropractic care could make a huge difference on how you're feeling and hopefully really help you with your neck pain. I'm Dr. Aaron Seaton with The Chiropractic Place.
